Zodiak Entertainment and RDF Media Group are re-branding under a new group banner following the acquisition of RDF by Zodiak. The new enlarged entity will launch as Zodiak Media Group (ZMG) at MIPCOM market next month with CEO David Frank at the helm of the global super-indie.
The new company brings together award-winning and internationally renowned production and rights companies from across Europe, the US, South America and Asia.
David Frank, CEO Zodiak Media Group is also planning to discontinue the group brands that previously made up the group in favour of Zodiak-designated regional and operational divisions while retaining all the local production brand names. Hence RDF Media Group, Marathon Group, Magnolia Group and Zodiak Television Group will cease to exist. However such famous brand names as Marathon Media, Magnolia, RDF Television and Marathon Images will live on as local and international production companies. Further details of the new divisional structure will be released soon.
In further moves, RDF USA has merged with Zodiak Entertainment US to become Zodiak USA, and the former rights divisions of RDF and Zodiak are merging to become Zodiak Rights, with operations continuing in London and Paris. Grant Mansfield becomes CEO Zodiak USA and Matthew Frank becomes CEO Zodiak Rights.
David Frank, CEO, Zodiak Media Group said:
“The re-branding of the group and the move to a new divisional structure based on the Zodiak name will enable us to operate more effectively as a group and leverage greater value from the scale of our combined businesses and our geographical spread. A strong Zodiak brand will assist our local companies. We want to think globally and deliver locally.”
Zodiak Rights, part of Zodiak Media Group, will unveil a number of properties in Cannes next month which will reflect the groups diverse global output including animation, children’s, scripted, comedy; documentary, factual entertainment, digital, and branded content titles.
