Yellow Bird was established in 2003 and is one of the leading Scandinavian film and television production companies. The company focuses primarily on international co-productions.

Yellow Bird is the production company behind the internationally-acclaimed feature films The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, based on Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy. The company also co-produced the David Fincher-directed US version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Yellow Bird is also the producers behind the screen adaptation of Jo Nesbø's novel Headhunters as well as the Annika Bengtzon and Irene Huss series of films.

Furthermore, Yellow Bird has produced both the Swedish and UK versions of Henning Mankell's Wallander series and is currently producing the 4th season of the British Wallander series. The Norwegian television series Occupied, based on an original idea by Jo Nesbø, is also currently in post-production and the Swedish feature film Greetings from up North starring Ola Rapace and Martina Haag is also in post-production.

The big screen adventure film The Wizard’s Daughter premiered in November 2014 and was nominated for three Guldbagge Awards in 2015.

In addition to the above, Yellow Bird has an active slate of international projects in development.
