GTV

GTV is one of the leading French drama production companies. It was created by Christian Charret in association with the producers Jacques Salles and Sandra d’Aboville.

Having broken away from its association with Gaumont in 1999, GTV has been one of the mainstays of Zodiak France (formerly Marathon Group) since 2006.

GTV’s credits include a string of hits both in France and abroad, such as international co-productions Highlander and Sydney Fox and the French series Night Squad, The Counselors and Lea Parker. The company also produces high-end prime-time drama The Dominici Case (top-rated programme in France in 2003 across all channels and genres); The Blue Bicycle (best ratings for a drama on France 2); They Dreamed of a Kingdom, First to the Top, The River of Hope, The Neighbour, Death Letters, A Cry in the Night, Dombey & Son (based on the novel by Charles Dickens); New Wave, Jury Duty (winner of two FIPA d’OR and many other awards), and The Queen and the Cardinal (Best Director award for Marc Rivière at the La Rochelle festival in 2008), as well as The Dead Queen (Pyrénées d’Argent and Best Female Newcomer award at the Festival de Luchon 2009); The Distant Echo, based on the novel by Val McDermid (Best Actor award for its four leading male roles at the Luchon Film Festival in 2010); and Who Killed Little Red Riding Hood (award for Best Mini-series at the TV Drama Festival in La Rochelle in 2009).

More recent productions include Le Sang des Atrides, a film by Bruno Gantillon adapted from the novel by Pierre Magnan, starring Victor Lanoux and Thibault de Montalembert. Broadcast by France 3 in May 2010, the second episode of the investigations by Inspector Laviolette attracted 5.1 million viewers and put France 3 in second place, giving the network its fourth best evening ratings since the start of that year.

GTV’s latest productions are Marquise of Darkness, a film by Edouard Niermans produced by Sandra d’Aboville for France 2, starring Anne Parillaud as the celebrated Marquise of Brinvilliers; Deadly Hitch, a 90’ TV movie for France 3 directed by Patrick Volson, written by Alain le Henry, based on the novel by Jean Cavé and produced by Sandra d’Aboville; Angels Passing and Cut to Black (2 x 90’), adapted by Bernard Marié from the novels by Graham Hurley, whose cop heroes will have their own dedicated collection directed by Edwin Bailly and produced by Jacques Salles; and The Tomb of Helios, yet another investigation by Inspector Laviolette, again played by Victor Lanoux, directed by Bruno Gantillon and written by Odile Barski, based on the novel by Pierre Magnan (90’ for France 3).
